Bastion Living — a house for Indian design
India has always made beautiful things. Too often, they have left the workshop without a name.
Every object begins as a story.
Read the story, meet the person who authored it, follow the idea to the workshop and the material — and arrive at the piece itself.
बुरुज Buruj — the bastion
One collaborator.
One season. One story.
Every three months, the house opens a new season: a single designer, artist or architect, a single body of work, and its story told in full.
The first season is being written.
Five steps, taken together.
The Invitation
We invite one designer, artist or architect whose work we have long admired.
The Authorship
They author the work in their own register — rooted in heritage craft or boldly contemporary. We never blend voices.
The Making
Each piece is prototyped and made in an empanelled Indian workshop, and held to its drawing before it leaves.
The Unveiling
The season opens with its full story — the idea, the material, the hands — and every piece credited by name.
Your name on the work.
Your work in the world.
We collaborate with only four creators a year. You author the work; we make it, tell its story and place it in the homes it was meant for.
First, for those who build homes.
Bastion Living opens first to architects and interior designers. Trade members see each season before it is unveiled.
